On the small island of Telendos you can really enjoy the tranquility and nature. Here there are neither traffic nor paved roads. There are actually no cars or other vehicles on the island.
Telendos is the most peaceful island and is only five minutes by boat from Kalymnos. Telendos was landfast with Kalymnos until the middle of the 6th century, where an earthquake separated Telendos from the main island. At the bottom of the narrow stretch between Kalymnos and Telendos there are still ruins from the earthquake. On the island there are many nice trails, good climbing conditions and beautiful bathing coves with crystal clear water. At the old harbor there are several small cozy tavernas with very good food.

Talendos is perfect if you want your holiday with peace and quiet. Lovely beaches and good food. There are only about 50 residents on the island, but a little more in the summer months. There are no sights on the island, besides the ruins of a Roman settlement and the ruins of the medieval monastery St. Vasilios.

If you live at Talendos and one day want to experience something else, it’s only 5-10 minutes by boat to Kalymnos. The trip with the small wooden boats costs only 2 euros per person each way and they sail every ½ hour from the morning until late evening.
We have contact with two different landlords who both rent good rooms with sea views over the old harbor. The one is with 4 rooms on the 1st floor and with access to a very large terrace with both sun and shade. Perfect if you travel more together. Telendos is a place you want to come back to when you’ve first tried it and is perfect in combination with Kalymnos where you can choose to stay one week each place.
